WELKOM OP DE FREETHIEL, YUTAKA MICHIWAKI!
SKB kondigt met trots de komst van een nieuwe centrumspits aan. Geel-blauw leent Yutaka Michiwaki (18) al minstens een seizoen van het Japanse Roasso Kumamoto. De club bedong immers ook extra opties voor een verlengd verblijf van de aanvaller.
Yutaka Michiwaki (1m86) liet bij Roasso Kumamoto al op erg jonge leeftijd zijn potentieel zien. Kumamoto aarzelde dan ook niet om hem in december 2022, op amper zestienjarige leeftijd, een contract aan te bieden. Daarmee werd hij meteen de jongste speler met een profcontract in de geschiedenis van de Japanse club.
Enkele maanden later maakte de zestienjarige centrumspits al zijn debuut bij de hoofdmacht van Kumamoto. In dat debuutjaar verscheen de aanvaller meteen in maar liefst 21 wedstrijden tussen de lijnen. In de zogeheten Emperor’s Cup liet hij zich opmerken door twee keer te scoren. Ook dit kalenderjaar liet de spits al in tien wedstrijden zien wat hij in zijn mars heeft.
Daarnaast is Michiwaki ook jeugdinternational en maakte hij al op verschillende internationale tornooien zijn opwachting. Op de Asia Cup voor U17 schopte hij het, als vaste waarde, met zijn team tot in de finale. Daarin versloeg Japan Korea met 0-3. In vijf matchen vond Michiwaki vier keer de weg naar doel. Later dat jaar kon hij op het wereldkampioenschap voor U17 nogmaals de netten doen trillen.
Het was dan ook geen verrassing dat de Japanner op de radar kwam van meerdere Europese clubs. SKB is dan ook bijzonder verheugd dat het gelukt is om Michiwaki naar Beveren te halen.
De Japanner zal de groep vervoegen zodra de visumprocedure achter de rug is.

In het verleden is gebleken dat Japanse spelers zich prima integreren in onze competitie. Michiwaki zal wellicht wat tijd nodig hebben om zich volledig aan te passen, maar we geloven sterk in zijn potentieel. Ik kijk er erg naar uit om te zien hoe hij zich bij ons verder zal ontwikkelen.
SKB was niet de enige club die interesse toonde in de aanvaller. Dat hij ervoor gekozen heeft om naar Beveren te komen, maakt ons bijzonder trots. We zijn ervan overtuigd dat hij een waardevolle aanwinst zal zijn voor ons team.”

YUTAKA MICHIWAKI JOINS BEVEREN!
SKB is proud to announce the arrival of a new center forward. The yellow-blue team has secured Yutaka Michiwaki (18) on loan from Japan’s Roasso Kumamoto for at least one season. The club has also negotiated options for an extended stay for the striker.
Yutaka Michiwaki (1.86m) showed his potential at Roasso Kumamoto from a very young age. Kumamoto did not hesitate to offer him a contract in December 2022, when he was just sixteen. This made him the youngest player to sign a professional contract in the history of the Japanese club.
A few months later, the sixteen-year-old striker made his debut for Kumamoto’s first team. In his debut year, he appeared in 21 matches. In the Emperor’s Cup, he made his mark by scoring twice. This calendar year, the forward has already demonstrated his skills in ten matches.
In addition, Michiwaki is also a youth international and has made appearances in various international tournaments. At the U17 Asia Cup, he was a key player for his team, helping Japan reach the final, where they defeated Korea 3-0. In five matches, Michiwaki scored four goals. Later that year, he found the net again at the U17 World Cup.
It was no surprise that the Japanese player caught the attention of several European clubs. SKB is very pleased to have succeeded in bringing Michiwaki to Beveren.
The Japanese striker will join the squad once the visa process is complete.
