SKB versterkt zijn achterlinie met een extra centrale verdediger. Jakov Filipovic (30) komt transfervrij over van Bate Borisov. De Kroaat tekent een contract voor 2,5 seizoenen bij geel-blauw.
Jakov Filipovic startte in 2014 zijn professionele carrière bij het Kroatische Bijelo Brdo. In 2016 stapte hij over naar Cibalia Vinkovci om twee jaar later de overstap naar Inter Zapresic te maken. In het seizoen 2016-2017 belandde hij op de radar van Sporting Lokeren dat hem naar België haalde. Bij de Lokerse buren speelde Filipovic maar liefst 84 wedstrijden. Door financiële problemen liet Lokeren de rechtsvoetige verdediger in maart 2020 gratis vertrekken naar het Wit-Russische Bate Borisov. Het contract van Filipovic liep eind december af waardoor geel-blauw de Kroaat vanaf januari transfervrij kan overnemen.
CEO Antoine Gobin: “Jakov was een speler die we deze zomer al wilden aantrekken, maar zijn status als aanvoerder van een club die meedoet om de Europese plaatsen, verhinderde dat hij toen naar ons kwam. Jakov kent de competitie, is een leider en heeft bewezen dat hij de kwaliteiten heeft om niet enkel in onze huidige reeks, maar ook in een hogere divisie te presteren. We zijn verheugd dat Jakov in januari de groep zal vervoegen tijdens de winterstage en zijn ervan overtuigd dat hij een onmiddellijke impact zal hebben in ons streven naar het hoogst mogelijke.”
Filipovic zal aantreden met het nummer 32.

SK Beveren is excited to present a new player. Jakov Filipovic (30) signs a contract for 2.5 seasons.
Jakov Filipovic started his professional career with Croatia’s Bijelo Brdo in 2014. He changed teams in 2016, going to Cibalia Vinkovci, and again in 2018, going to Inter Zapresic. In the 2016-2017 season, Sporting Lokeren brought him to Belgium. Filipovic played for our neighbours in no less than 84 games. Due to financial problems, he left Lokeren to Belarusian Bate Borisov in March 2020 as a free agent. The white-russian team’s contract with the right-footed defender ran through the end of December.
CEO Antoine Gobin: “Jakov was a player that we already wanted this summer, but his status as captain of a club competing for European spots prevented him from joining us then. He knows the competition, is a strong, outgoing leader, and has proven that he has the quality to perform both today and in higher divisions. We’re excited to have Jakov join us in camp in January, and are convinced he’ll make an immediate impact as we strive for the top position.”
Filipovic will be wearing the number 32.
