SK Beveren is verheugd om de komst van de Ierse vleugelspeler Liam Kerrigan (24) aan te kondigen. Geel-blauw huurt de flankaanvaller een jaar van het Italiaanse Como 1907 dat uitkomt in de Serie A. De club bedong ook een aankoopoptie.
Liam Kerrigan begon zijn voetbalcarrière bij Sligo Rovers, in zijn thuisstad. Vervolgens trok hij naar UCD (University College Dublin AFC) waar hij drie seizoenen actief was. Bij UCD liet Kerrigan zich opmerken door in 81 wedstrijden 25 keer te scoren en 23 assists af te leveren. Hij werd een van de belangrijkste spelers van het team en hielp UCD te promoveren naar de hoogste Ierse afdeling.
Zijn goede prestaties waren Como 1907 niet ontgaan en het Italiaanse team slaagde erin Kerrigan in de zomer van 2022 naar het Europese vasteland te halen. In zijn tweede match deed hij de netten meteen trillen, maar niet veel later kreeg de Ier af te rekenen met een zware blessure.
Het daaropvolgende seizoen was Kerrigan opnieuw fit en werd hij vooral als invaller in de Serie B gebruikt. Het laatste halve seizoen werd de flankspeler uitgeleend aan Novara, dat uitkomt in de Serie C.
General manager Bob Peeters:
“Wat ons bij Kerrigan meteen opviel, was zijn goede vechtersmentaliteit. Daarnaast beschikt hij over snelheid, zowel met als zonder bal. Kerrigan is het type dat we nog misten in onze kern. Bovendien is hij erg polyvalent en denkt hij steeds vooruit.”

SK Beveren is pleased to announce the arrival of the Irish winger Liam Kerrigan (24). The club has signed the attacker on a one-year loan from Italian club Como 1907, which competes in Serie A. SKB has also negotiated a purchase option.
Liam Kerrigan began his football career with Sligo Rovers in his hometown. He then moved to UCD (University College Dublin AFC), where he played for three seasons. At UCD, Kerrigan made a name for himself by scoring 25 goals and providing 23 assists in 81 matches. He became one of the key players on the team and helped UCD secure promotion to the top tier of Irish football.
His strong performances did not go unnoticed by Como 1907, and the Italian team succeeded in bringing Kerrigan to mainland Europe in the summer of 2022. In his second match, he found the back of the net, but not long after, the Irishman was sidelined by a serious injury.
In the following season, Kerrigan returned to fitness and he was mostly used as a substitute in Serie B. In the last half of the season, the winger was loaned out to Novara, which competes in Serie C.
