SK Beveren verwelkomt een nieuwe verdedigende middenvelder. Petar Vitanov (28) komt de Beverse rangen versterken. De ervaren Bulgaar tekent op de Freethiel een contract van anderhalf jaar met optie.
Vitanov begon op zevenjarige leeftijd te voetballen bij CSKA Sofia. In juli 2013 tekende hij bij dat team zijn allereerste profcontract, niet veel later maakte hij er zijn debuut bij de hoofdmacht. Vier jaar later stapte hij over naar het Bulgaarse Vereya. Vervolgens kwam hij in zijn thuisland ook nog uit voor Cherno More en Lokomotiv Plovdiv.
Afgelopen zomer ging Vitanov voor het eerst in zijn carrière aan de slag in het buitenland. De middenvelder was een half seizoen actief voor het Chinese TJ Jinmen Tiger. Nu volgt voor de Bulgaar meteen een nieuw buitenlands avontuur.
In 2021 maakte Vitanov tijdens een WK-kwalificatiewedstrijd tegen Italië zijn debuut in het Bulgaarse nationale elftal. Ondertussen verdedigde de ervaren middenvelder in acht wedstrijden de kleuren van zijn land.

Zijn internationale ervaring omvat acht optredens voor het Bulgaarse nationale team, waar hij zich onderscheidde als een robuuste speler die zijn team zowel defensief als in de opbouw ondersteunt. Zijn tactische inzicht en fysieke aanwezigheid maken hem een waardevolle toevoeging aan elke ploeg.”
Vitanov zal aantreden met het rugnummer 34.

SK Beveren welcomes a new defensive midfielder. Petar Vitanov (28) joins the club. The experienced Bulgarian signs a contract of one and a half years with an option at the Freethiel.
Vitanov began playing football at the age of seven with CSKA Sofia. In July 2013, he signed his very first professional contract with the team, and not long after, he made his debut with the first team. Four years later, he moved to Vereya, and later played for Cherno More and Lokomotiv Plovdiv in his home country.
Last summer, Vitanov worked abroad for the first time in his career. The midfielder spent half a season with the Chinese TJ Jinmen Tiger. Now, a new foreign adventure immediately follows for the Bulgarian.
In 2021, Vitanov made his debut in the Bulgarian national team during a World Cup qualifying match against Italy. Meanwhile, the experienced midfielder has represented his country in eight games.
